KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia now has its own Lamborghini with the unveiling of a “supercar” exclusively built for the local market.
The high-end sports car, the new Lamborghini Gallardo MLE (Malaysia Limited Edition), made its debut in a glitzy ceremony here yesterday.
The V10 powered Gallardo MLE is the result of a year-long collaboration between Lamborghini Kuala Lumpur and the principal company in Italy, Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A.

Lamborghini Kuala Lumpur chairman Chut Nyak Isham Nyak Ariff said many local customers wanted their cars to have the interior comforts of a standard Gallardo but with the exciting exterior attributes of the Superleggera 570-4.
He said only 20 units of the car are offered for sale, and they are only for the Malaysian market.
The Gallardo MLE, a variant of the company's best-selling model, sports an aggressive front bumper, carbon side skirts, titanium exhaust tips and a carbon-fibre rear diffuser.
Its 5.2-litre V10 engine can go up to a maximum 550hp with a top speed of 320kph. It can sprint from rest to 100kph in 3.9 seconds.
The on-the-road price is RM1.68mil without insurance.
All cars come with a three-year factory warranty.
The new model, available in three colours Bianco Monocerus (solid white), Verde Ithaca (pearl green) and Arancio Borealis (pearl orange) is anticipated to be highly sought after by sports car enthusiasts and collectors.
The car was brought in by Eminent Century Sdn Bhd and JH Italia Sdn Bhd. Eminent Century is the official Malaysian importer for Lamborghini cars while JH Italia is its sole dealer in the country.
